[OOC: Pretend this was sent out last week. :)]

I put the shirts vs. helmets debate to a vote and the results I received are all pro-shirts.

ATTENTION HERITAGE HELLION ROLLER DERBY GIRLS

I've been told I need to call a vote regarding the placement of our player names on our uniforms. Please respond to this with your vote.

Hannah's original plan was to put our names on our helmets.

My objection to this plan is two-fold:
-One, as we all probably know, the jammers and pivots wear helmet covers during the jams. A helmet cover would block the player's name, leaving both the crowd and the announcers unable to easily identify the player. Sure our numbers would be on the backs of our shirts, but players are more easily recognized by their name than their number.

-Two, some of us have or will have long names. Putting that text on the helmet will be small and difficult to read, even without a cover completely blocking it.

So I propose we put our names (along with our numbers) on the backs of our shirts. Large, easy-to-read, and won't be covered during the jams.

Please cast your vote below for helmet or shirt. Thank you!

I am not happy about this Tom Hardy as Bane thing for the next Batman movie. A Latino supergenius? Oh, yes! I know just the person to play him. A white guy. Perfect. Because there are already too many Latino supergenius roles in Hollywood and definitely not enough for white guys. Of course, I shouldn't have expected much from Christopher Nolan after the whole Liam Neeson as Ra's Al Ghul thing in Batman Begins.

I can go on and on, but I'll spare you all.

I'm okay with Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, though. (Even though I would have preferred the role going to an unknown.) Here's hoping Nolan doesn't follow his usual M.O. and kill her before the movie ends. (I'm not holding my breath.)

I must find one of these for the library.

Now that the trailer is out for the tv show, there are so many holds on The Walking Dead series here at the library. It's fantastic. Not just because more people are interested in a great comic, but also because it's bringing more people to the library.

Reading a comic in book form really is the only way to do it. I have some friends who download them and read them on their computers. That ruins the whole experience. You have to zoom in so much to be able to read the dialogue bubbles and it keeps you from being able to see the whole page. With graphic novels like say, Watchmen, where the page design itself and the layout of the frames adds to the art, well, you miss all that. And that sucks.

So basically my advice is this: if you want to read comics/graphic novels for free, either borrow them from a friend or get them at your local library. None of this computer stuff.

I LOVE YOU, ARCADE FIRE.

When I've got downtime at work I like peeking into the overdue book records and seeing what you slackers owe. No wonder why I never see some of you at the library. There's no point in going when your borrowing privileges have long been revoked.

Just as an example, Mr. Jack Panda: I couldn't help but notice that you've had a copy of Island of the Blue Dolphins out and overdue since November 13, 1989. It's a good thing we cap overdue fees for each book at $15, or else you'd be looking at a $1134.75 bill. Tsk tsk tsk...

I know there are a lot of cat lovers in this town so I've got a question. Have any of you ever tried walking a cat? With a leash. I know it's possible (and I've watched YouTube videos) but I've never talked to anyone who's actually done it.

I'd kind of like to take Bruce Wayne on walks around the lake. Because I've become that kind of cat owner. The crazy kind. Good thing I'm not dressing her up in costumes. Yet.

I'd just like to point out that tomorrow is Free Comic Book day and everyone should find a comic book store and take advantage of that. Even if you’re not into comics. Try out something new. And you should also actually buy some things too, since comic book stores are dying faster than record stores. Of course, the comics are always free at the library if you’re cheap and I wouldn't exactly complain about more patrons.
